2 longtime Las Vegas bookmakers hired by Circa Sports
With pride, Circa Sports welcomes two sharp bettors. They added the two old-school Las Vegas bookmakers, Nick Bogdanovich and Richie Baccellieri.
Circa sportsbook director Matt Metcalf admits having Nick on his shortlist since he started in the industry 20 years ago. He says the list was basically Nick and Richie and they finally work at Circa now which is “pretty cool”.
Baccelieri worked as a sportsbook director at Ceasars Palace, MGM Grand, and The Palms. He recently joined Circa as director of product development.
Bogdanovich joins Circa as their sportsbook manager on Monday, 9 months after being fired from Ceasars Sportsbook where he worked as the vice president of trading. He worked as a sportsbook director since 2012 at William Hill who purchased Ceasars Entertainment four months after Bogdanovich's dismissal.
Bogdanovich is a Las Vegas native and informed that he wasn’t even looking for work when he was approached by Metcalf and offered to join Circa at lunch.
“I respect what Derek’s done with the sports, and I have the utmost respect for Matt,” said Bogdanovich. “I chewed on it for a while and decided that would be a good place to make a reappearance.”
Bogdanovich held the position of a Sportsbook Director for nine years at both William Hill and Binion’s. He also worked books at Mandalay Bay, Golden Nugget, and Stratosphere.
“Matt just wanted another bat in the lineup,” said Bogdanovich. “I’m looking forward to working with those guys. I agree with their philosophy, and I like the guys they’ve got down there running it right now. It seems like a pretty good fit.”
Metcalf reports that Chris Bennet got promoted to Director of Risk from sportsbook manager and Jeff Davis got promoted to Sportsbook Manager accompanied by Bogdanovich.
Metcalf also said and we quote, “Our goal is to put together the best bookmaking team in the world,” and “When we have the opportunity to hire what I perceive to be some of the best bookmakers in the world in Chris Bennett, Jeff Davis, and Nick, we jump at those opportunities.
“Nick has been known throughout his career as someone who takes the largest bets and tries to get players down. He’ll bring that same attitude to Circa Sports, and we’re excited to see how it goes.”
